Press Release

Going into the weekend before the bad weather, Bell County Water Control and Improvement District 1 notified their customers of current plant capacity restrictions; knowing the freezing temperatures were coming and having the possibility of broken water lines increasing usage. With the Rehabilitation and Expansion Project ongoing, 39% of plant capacity has been reduced for construction. WCID 1 had no issues maintaining capacity through the entire weekend. Late yesterday evening, it was noted that usage was up, from thawed broken water lines, almost reaching restricted plant capacity. WCID 1 staff felt confident we could maintain customer tank levels with no water shortage until additional plant capacity came online today. Although WCID 1 did not officially issue a conservation notice; some customers did issue a conservation notice, and those were appreciated. As of 1:15PM ground storage tank elevations have risen, and the plant has an additional 6.5MG of capacity.
